A World Asunder

'A World Asunder' features complex, satirical ink-and-tempera works on paper by Buddhadev Mukherjee, an alumnus of Santiniketan and M.S. University of Baroda. Drawing upon classical Persian miniature conventions and Mughal court paintings, Mukherjee subverts these royal genres to depict chaotic, tragicomic scenes of modern alienation, religious hypocrisy, and political polarization.

Populated by hybrid creatures, bewildered citizens, and decaying cityscapes, Mukherjee's dense compositions offer a trenchant critique of contemporary societal fissures, delivered through masterfully delicate brushwork.
