Long Short Stories

'Long Short Stories' showcases the celebrated collaboration between American-born Udaipur-based artist Waswo X. Waswo and traditional miniature painters Dalpat Jingar, Rajesh Soni, and Subhash Sharma. Staging theatrical photographic tableaux that feature Waswo in the satirical persona of the 'bumbled foreigner in India', the works are meticulously hand-colored using silver gelatin prints and bordered with intricate Mewar-style borders.

The exhibition interrogates orientalism, nostalgia, privilege, and the delicate dance between indigenous craftsmanship and contemporary conceptual photography.
